Healer???
I guess what is becoming a little more apparent over the last couple of days is the news about Michael Guglielmucci, the Australian Pastor and musician who wrote the very popular song Healer and promoted it alongside the story of his terminal cancer and his faith in Jesus as the Healer.
It seems stories are coming out now that his Cancer was a lie. With the danger of reading into it before I have all the facts, my first reaction is...
Bugger.
I really liked that song, and I think what drew me to find Jesus among it was the spirit with which I was lead to believe it was written. It wasn't just the song, but that the song came from someone who really spoke from within it.
It seems to me that it is another brand of viral marketing, check a previous post here to see other forms in movies.
Two different comments from another online feedback forum caught my attention.
"...to all those who have been affected by this, I really encourage you: Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep your eyes on Jesus!! He never fails."
And
"...well, well, well, we are supposed to serve God not money and i'm afraid church is all about money. Christians are supposed to build God's kingdom not their own little empires. Jesus did not drive a mercedes or sell cds and books. Why are we not surprised!"
One view from the glass is half full and the other from half empty...
I pray that through this a new sense of humility may develop and a greater sense that even in God's church we are still prone to screwing things up.
May God create in Michael Guglielmucci and all those who are impacted by this story, a new and fresh sense of His grace and mercy.

Oh dear... a scam?
That's just TERRIBLE.
I know some friends who were very moved by that video, song, & story and they will be none too happy to hear this.
Yeah, it moves me too. (Current tense.) Unfortunately the story is only getting worse. Healer is going to take on a new meaning entirely for Mike.
It's a terrible environment, in a very public way, to live out such a big fall.
