I'm happy with that.

It seams two things have surprised me today as I read the news.

Firstly: the Anti-smacking bill has been 'amended.' Well... it hasn't been really, just the wording has been to make it a little clearer to those who were in danger of protesting against something they weren't really sure about. What it boils down to is:
"The proposed amendment makes it clear police have the discretion not to prosecute complaints against a parent where the offence is considered "so inconsequential" there is no public interest in it going ahead."
Which is what it was about in the first place, just that common sense now rules when it comes to smacking (not abusing) children for discipline or correction purposes.

And Secondly: that both labour and National stood together for something for the benefit of the country (If in fact you believe this bill is for the benefit of the country...)

Good to see some common sense politics happening, right here in our back yard!
